For the last two weeks, our focus was on practicing the short and long vowels of our fourth phonic book. MashaAllah the SK1 are doing a wonderful job in distinguishing between these vowels. Way to go SK1.
SK1 students learned a song about the short and long vowels. Please ask your child about it!!

Reading:
We started a new book of our guided reading: My Loose Tooth?
The students are looking for short and long vowels in this book.
In addition, I started the DRA2 Word Analysis Assessment. DRA2 stands for developmental reading assessment. The purpose of this assessment is to divide the Sk1 students based on their basic reading abilities and their knowledge of the alphabet sounds to different groups for the guided reading program inshaAllah.

In measurement we are learning about capacity.
We did hands on activities to enhance students learning in math.
We also finished some worksheets about capacity.
We are learning about the different food groups and healthy eating. We finished some worksheets about this topic.
Please do not forget to pack healthy snacks for your children. They are at the peak of mental and physical growth. Let us enrich their bodies with snacks that are packed with nutrients. Encouraged items are: cut up fruits and veggies, yogurt, cheese, cereal bars. Discourage items are: sugary treats, chips, sugary drinks.
