SK1 Updates!

Assalamu Alikum,

Dear Parents,

Field Trip: Our field trip to Cosmic Adventures was very exciting and fun!
children spent the day exploring all the different play structures at this huge indoor complex. By the end of that day students, teachers, and volunteers were all ready for a nap!

Thank you to our wonderful field trip volunteers! We could not have done it without you!

Language Art/phonics:
All children are expected to be able to write their name and recognize it.

Al hamdullelh, we finished our first phonic book and we had lots of fun learning the sounds of the following letters S, A, T, I, P and N. Please ask your children about them and watch as they make the sounds and the actions.

Useful website:  www.starfall.com for sound and letter recognition.

Assalam alikum,

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Accomplishments

In Phonics:
We started our first phonic book. This book will cover the following letters: s, a, t, i, p and n. The sounds are taught in a specific order (not alphabetically). This enables children to begin building words as early as possible. We had lots of fun learning the sounds of two letters last week, the letters S and A. Please ask your child about it and watch as they do the actions that go along with the sounds. This year we are putting a lot of emphasis on the proper writing method of the letters in lower-case and capital form. We are also discovering the sounds that these letters make as they appear in the start, middle, or end of different words. The Jolly phonics system has been a proven success, and is being used in many educational institutions nationally, and internationally.

Show & Tell

We will start regular show & tell on Monday the 7th of October insha’Allah.  On Friday October 4, me and Tr. Malika will do it first so the kids will know how to present their show and tell. Show & tell will help the children’s oral and visual communication skills and will be a good practice for an upcoming project insha’Allah!

letter from Tr. Salam

Arabic

Assalamoalaikum

Last month we studied the letters, the name of harakat (fatah, kasra , and dama) and how to read the letters studied with them; this has been accomplished though a number of activities, such as songs, games, stories and competitions. The children have found these activities to be exciting and fun.
