Martha our Literature Club volunteer in a huddled reading session. The children have been really enjoying these sessions, and look forward to having them every Friday inshaAllah.

In addition, Tr. Nancy our school librarian reads to the children books related to our classroom themes.

Math:

We finished learning about the 2D shapes. We are now learning about the 3D shapes. We did some hands on activities by playing with different 2D and 3D shapes. The kids really enjoyed their play time and discovering the different shapes that we are learning about.

We also learned a poem about the 3D shapes. Please ask your child about it!

We are still learning about the the importance of the 3 R's and currently we are learning how to take care of our earth.

April Du`aa'

اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي من التَّوَّابِينَ، وَاجْعَلْنِي من المُتطَهِّرِينَ

Allāhumma-j`alni mina-ttawābin wa-j`alni minal mutaTahireen

“O Allah, make me among those constantly repentant and those who constantly purify themselves"

A du’aa’ guided from Suratul Baqarah (chapter2), verse 222

In addition we are taking part of the April's theme for cleanliness.

April Trait: Cleanliness

The trait of this month is 'Cleanliness'.

Allah says in the Holy Quran: "Allah loves those who turn to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean." (Al-Baqarah:222)

Cleanliness is diligence in keeping clean.

What might cleanliness look like or sound like?

·         Cleaning up after oneself and throwing waste into the appropriate garbage, recycling bin, or compost
·         Ensuring that the washroom is clean at all times.
·         Picking up waste from the ground.
·         Contributing to the betterment of the household, school, and community.

·         Taking part without hesitation in classroom chores and responsibilities.

What does spiritual cleanliness look like?

·         Asking for forgiveness (Istighfaar)
·         Making repentence (Tawbah)
·         Maintaining good feelings and wishing well to others
·         Becoming free from jealousy
