Pajama Party:
SK1 had so much fun reading stories in the dark using the flashlights, guessing what in the box from bedtime items and eating popcorn. The students had a wonderful time hiding under the class tent and playing with their flash lights and stuffed toys!
We read the following stories on Friday:
نجمة السلام
استيقظي يا سارة
Math:
We are still learning about measurement using non standard tools. The class really enjoyed measuring items with their snap cubes, popsicle sticks and straws.
The children are measuring objects using nonstandard units, such as connecting cubes, paper clips, pencils, erasers, crayons, hands, feet, and shoes. Children need to understand the idea of measuring in tangible units before they can move on to using rulers and standard units. Measuring how many paper clips or crayons long an object is builds a foundation for understanding the relationship between quantities and symbolic numbers. Nonstandard units also make children aware of the need for standard units of measurement. As they measure the same object with units such as their hands or feet, children will see that different-sized units, such as hands and feet, yield different measurements which is the tallest, shortest, and longest.
In addition we are learning how to count by 5s.
science:
We are still working in our unit of living and non-living things. Sk1 finished some worksheets about this unit.
Please remember to send the diorama boxes and all related materials by Tuesday of next week. Please check the diorama sheet for more information.
