Thank you to……
All the parents for helping your child complete their first
homework.
All of you who sent in delicious foods for our Eid party.
Alhamdullelah we had a fantastic time.
Language Art:
All children are expected to be able to write their name
and recognize it.
We are learning how to write the Upper and the lower case of
the letters in phonic book 1 neatly.
In Phonics:
We had lots of fun learning the sounds that the following
letters S, A, T and I. Please ask your children about them and watch as they
make the sounds and the actions.
Show & Tell:
MashaAllah the SK1 children are doing a wonderful job in
their Show &Tell. InshaAllah we will continue this activity until the end
of the year. Children got to share some of their favourite shirts, and books
with the class through the means of an oral presentation. Please remember to
post your child’s Show & Tell on the fridge to remind him/her of the day
they suppose to do their turn.
We’re working really hard on our social skills! We’re
becoming exceptionally good at sharing toys, smiling at each other, and
apologizing to each other if we hurt each others’ feelings. We say please and
thank you to each other!
Quran:
Every morning we start our day off by enriching our hearts
with some beautiful verses from the holy Qur’an.
Du’aa:
In SK we know the importance of reciting specific du’aas
during the day. When leaving our classroom we recite quietly, before entering
the bathroom we recite, before we eat we recite. We will learn what to say
before we go to sleep soon inshaAllah. Please help your child recite these
du’aa even in the comfort of their own home.
In Islamic studies:
Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him)
We learned about the life of prophet Ibrahim (pbuh): his
birth, his return to his people, the birth of his son Ismael (pbuh), the
fountain of Zamzam, the sacrifice and the building of the ka’aba. The children
colored a book about the life of prophet Ibrahim (pbuh).
The children participated in a special workshop on the Hajj
organized by the grade five students.
We’ve been reviewing our numbers 1-10. We’ve also been
practicing our oral counting up to 100 in fives, and tens! We learned how to
put the number in order, what comes before and after. We learned how to count
backwards. For our calendar time, the kids are learning to count the days of
the week by using the ordinal numbers e.g.
First, second, third…etc. The kids are enjoying the days of the week and
the weather songs.
We are working on patterning, and sequencing. Students
started by identifying simple patterns followed by more complicated ones.
Students will also get a chance to create their own patterns through rhythms,
and beats!
Gym:
To release some of our never-ending energy, we’ve been
frequenting the gym, and the playground. Some of our activities have included:
Fire safety procedures (including fire drills) - warming up exercises, the
pizza game, what time is it Mr. Wolf, and the fire, water and earth games.
Looking Ahead
(insha’Allah)
During the month of October we will focus on literature
through daily story time, shared reading and guided reading. We will also be
working on our Jolly Phonic books one and two.
In science, we will be learning about some of the properties
of different objects such as: hard/soft, rough/smooth floats/sinks etc. We will
also be experimenting with colours and seeing what results in blending
different combinations of colours.
