Assalam Alikum Dear Parents,
Language Arts:
In phonics,
Alhamdullelah we finished our third phonic book. We learned the last two
letters in this book, L and F. We will continue working in this book to finish all
related activities inshaAllah.
We will also continue
to work on learning how to blend simple three letter words e.g. sun,
dog, rat, bus, set, sit, top, and, fat, hat, lit, fit, leg, cat, cut and man.
We are also learning that when two letters next to each
other make the same sound, the sound is said only once e.g. hill is / h-i-ll/
not /h-i-l-l
This is also applies to other doubled consonants in words
such as rabbit, carrot, dress and kitten.
In addition we are practicing daily some sight words to help
the students start reading soon inshaAllah.
Math:
We are learning how to write numbers in words. Alhamdullelah, we covered the following
numbers:
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven and eight.Next: We will take the numbers nine and ten inshaAllah.

SK1 watched two educational videos on youtube about this
subject. We will do more activities about this topic during the following two weeks insha’Allah.
Islamic Studies:
We are learning about Allah (swt)
the creator.
We are integrating Islamic
studies with Art, science and language.Since we are talking in science about living and non-living things, we try to remind the students about the things that Allah (swt) created and things that are made by human.
Sk1 are learning a new nasheed
called Allah the creator.
Allah made the stars, and the moon, and the sun.
Allah is the One, Allah is the One,
Allah, the Creator, the Al-Mighty One.
Who made the flowers, and the plants, and trees?
Who made the spiders and the honeybees?Allah made the stars, and the moon, and the sun.
Allah is the One, Allah is the One,
Allah, the Creator, the Al-Mighty One.
Who made the animals both big and small?
Who made the tiny mouse, the giraffe so tall?Allah is the One, Allah is the One,
Allah made the stars, and the moon, and the sun.
Allah is the One, Allah is the One,
Allah, the Creator, the Al-Mighty One.
Allah made the stars, and the moon, and the sun.
Allah is the One, Allah is the One,
Allah, the Creator, the Al-Mighty One.
We also talk about the importance of respecting parents.
SK1 learned a song about respecting their parents,
please ask your child about it!

Your Help is Needed
The SK1 class would like to invite you to contribute to our classroom literacy program. If you have any age-appropriate reading books that you would like to donate to our class we will be more than happy to add them to our classroom library.
We are also building an audio/visual library of Islamic Products for our class. If you have any children's nasheed cd's or educational children's DVD's that you would like to donate to our class we would love to have them.
Thank you!
