SK1 Updates ( Dec2- Dec 6)

Assalam Alikum Dear Parents,

Language Arts:

In phonics, Alhamdullelah we finished our third phonic book. We learned the last two letters in this book, L and F. We will continue working in this book to finish all related activities inshaAllah.

We will also continue to work on learning how to blend simple three letter words e.g. sun, dog, rat, bus, set, sit, top, and, fat, hat, lit, fit, leg, cat, cut and man.

We are also learning that when two letters next to each other make the same sound, the sound is said only once e.g. hill is / h-i-ll/ not /h-i-l-l

This is also applies to other doubled consonants in words such as rabbit, carrot, dress and kitten.

In addition we are practicing daily some sight words to help the students start reading soon inshaAllah.

SK1 Updates (Nov4-Nov14)!

Language Art/phonics:
Alhamdullelah we finished our second phonic book. We had lots of fun learning the sounds and the actions of the following letters R, M and D. Please ask your child about it and watch as they do the actions that go along with the sounds. This year we are putting a lot of emphasis on the proper writing method of the letters in lower-case and capital form. We are also discovering the sounds that these letters make as they appear in the start, middle, or end of different words. The Jolly phonics system has been a proven success, and is being used in many educational institutions nationally, and internationally. Please visit http://www.jollylearning.co.uk/.
Another useful website: www.starfall.com

We are also learning new sight words. The SK1 are doing a wonderful job in sounding out and using the hand action to spell new words. The actions of the letters are designed to help the child learn the sound.  Masha’Allah,Way to go SK1.
